J.K. Rowling Preps New Hogwarts E-Book Series

J.K. Rowling is launching a new e-book series focused on the magical world at the heart of her Harry Potter franchise. The first three titles – out September 6th via her Pottermore publishing platform – will focus on the Potter-attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Wall Street Journal reports.

"Pottermore Presents" will include new and old stories (some previously published on the Pottermore website), along with her own first-person reflections on the wizard universe. Each of the short e-books will be roughly 10,000 words. The Pottermore site teases that the series "offers Harry Potter fans added insights into the stories, settings and characters."

The first three installments are titled Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide; Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Political and Pesky Poltergeists; and Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies. A description of the books teases that readers will learn facts like "why the Black family bestow such odd names to their children, how a witch or wizard becomes a portrait [and] what J.K. Rowling really thinks about Professor Umbridge."

"J.K. Rowling's writing in these collections reveals intricate details of her characters' lives, their histories, as well as her inspiration," Pottermore CEO Susan Jurevics said in a statement.

Rowling wrote the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (out November 18th), the first installment of a new Potter spinoff franchise. The script version of West End play Harry Potter and Cursed Child recently broke Barnes & Nobles' record for the most pre-ordered book
