A Rock & Roll Writers Festival is just as its name suggests: a two-day festival dedicated to exploring and analysing all aspects of writing, reading and critiquing rock 'n' roll in the 21st century.
Organisers of the event — to be hosted on April 2-3 at Brisbane's Fortitude Valley — say that the "over 40 authors, musicians, commentators and ratbags" set to appear will be aiming for presentations and panel discussions that are "challenging, humorous, brave, funny, and probably dangerous". We're expecting plenty of opinions, quirky tales and insight into the world of not only music journalism, but also from those on the other side of the fence, with many of those scheduled to appear also musicians themselves.
The latest round of speakers was confirmed this week, with the eclectic mix including Chris Endrey of "cult sex-pop band" Fun Machine, award-winning novelist Sally Breen, biographer Ritchie Yorke, former Bluejuice frontman Jake Stone and many many more. These latest line-up additions join the already announced speakers and panel moderators, some of whom are regular Rolling Stone Australia contributors — including Jenny Valentish, Samuel J. Fell and Andrew McMillen.
Tickets for the event are on sale via the official website.
