In the lead up to 'Amped Up In Conversation', today brings the announcement of the 11th AMP shortlist and confirmation of the event's guest speaker.
After being narrowed down from the previously announced list of 56 albums, the 10 album's chosen by an expert, 16-member judging panel includes:
- Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit
- Dan Kelly - Leisure Panic
- Dick Diver - Melborune, Florida
- Gold Class - It's You
- Jess Ribeiro - Kill It Yourself
- Methyl Ethel - Oh Inhuman Spectacle
- My Disco - Severe
- Royal Headache - High
- Sarah Blasko - Eternal Return
- Tame Impala - Currents
The winner of the 11th Australian Music Prize will receive $30,000 in prize money, courtesy of PPCA.
In addition to the winner announcement, the event will see outspoken American musician and radio host Henry Rollins take to the stage as guest speaker. As a regular contributor for Rolling Stone Australia, Rollins said "In my opinion, there are so many great bands making great albums in Australia, you would be spoiled for choice to pick out a single best album but it will be interesting to see what happens. A large part of my listening comes from Australia. This has been the case for many years and of course being such a fan, I'm quite honoured and excited to be a part of the Australian Music Prize.”
'Amped Up In Conversation' will take place on Wednesday, March 9th 2015.
