Bigsound have revealed the first list of artists that'll feature at the Brisbane new music festival, this year set to run from September 5th to 8th.
The list, featuring a total of 64 acts, includes several Future Is Now profiled artists, including Alex the Astronaut, Hockey Dad, Winston Surfshirt and Jess Locke (pictured, and included in the upcoming issue #789, available July 6th), as well several up-and-coming artists we've recently featured, including Aurelia, Alexander Biggs, Body Type, Clowns and Brightness.
All artists (listed below) will be eligible for a share of the recently announced $100,000 Levi's prize, which will be awarded on the final day of Bisgound. One artist or group will receive an initial cash prize of $25,000 with three separate prizes of $25,000 awarded over the next three quarters of the year. The latter is open to not only artists appearing at Bigsound 2017, but anyone who has featured at the showcase over the past five years.
Tickets for the four nights of shows are available now, sold both individually and as single night tickets. A special "purple pass" is also available, giving patrons access to all shows, as well as associated conferences and parties.
Today's announcement follows on from the news in May that Australian music icons, Archie Roach and Tina Arena, will be delivering the two keynote addresses as part of conference component of the festival. Other speakers and panelists include Mary Ramos, the music supervisor for director Quentin Tarantino, as well as reps from Domino, Sub Pop, 4AD and more.
