Sydney's Rackett are set to release Ready Or Not on Friday, September 15th, with the five-track EP available to stream in full from today, exclusively via Rolling Stone Australia.
Ready Or Not is the perfect sampler of the quartet's unique trashy-pop sound; swaggering ("Bats"), swooning ("Prey") and evoking sing-a-longs via the instantly catchy, snarling title-track closer. Sandwiched between this trio of previously released tracks, the quartet serve up disses of deadshit blokes from two different perspectives — as a direct character assassination ("Mama Don't Like Him") and taking the longer way 'round, laying blame at the parents on the harrowing "Your Son". The latter being the standout on this diverse and impressive debut, delicately shifting from self-pity to empowerment, while blending humorous snipes ("did you treat him like a puppy?") with unflinching jabs ("your son is a con, your son is a bad one, and I wonder where he got it from").
For the physical release of Ready Or Not the band have partnered with designers Mi-Wallet for a run of handmade, upcycled sleeves, available for purchase at the upcoming EP launches — Friday, September 22nd at Yah Yah’s in Melbourne and Saturday the 23rd at Sydney’s The Chippo Hotel — as well as via their website following the release date. In addition to their own headline shows, the band are set to support Killing Heidi at their run of national dates.
