With a name like Sam Outlaw, he was born to be a country singer (or a cowboy), and now this South Dakota native is rejuvenating California Country with a sound all his own. Sam's (proper) debut album, Angeleno, is out March 27 via Cooking Vinyl and features tracks ranging from traditional, "Country Love Song", to those with a clear south of the border influence like "Who Do You Think You Are?" and "Angeleno", recalling aspects of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire” with a modern twang.
Sam's sound is subtler than the big south names currently dominating the country charts, perhaps the difference between Southern California and the Nashville noise, with Outlaw’s lyrics covering the three L's of country; Love, Ladies, and Liquor, with humour and originality.
