Jimmy Barnes on AC/DC Rumours: "I Wasn't Asked"

With AC/DC set to play their first show with Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose in Portugal this weekend, Jimmy Barnes has spoken to Rolling Stone about rumours he'd auditioned for the band.

"I never got asked. I had every radio station in the country asking me if I was going to do it, they all wanted me to do it. Axl's not the one I would have picked, but if anyone can make a good singer out of him Angus [Young] will do it. Angus is a fucking hard taskmaster. He's a great guitar player and doesn't take any shit from anybody. I think he might shape Axl into a good singer."

AC/DC were forced to postpone the last 10 dates of the North American leg of their Rock Or Bust world tour recently after doctors told frontman Brian Johnson he risked total hearing loss if he continued to tour. Johnson has fronted the band since 1980.

Rose is set to perform 12 European dates with AC/DC before playing the rescheduled North American shows. He will, meanwhile, continue to tour with the recently reunited Guns N'Roses when they embark on their stadium tour on June 23rd.
