On The Charts: Ed Fends Off Flood of Debuts

Current Rolling Stone cover-story star, Ed Sheeran, continues his dominance on the ARIA single and album charts this week, with "Shape Of You" holding on for its 13th straight week at #1 on the singles chart and new album, Divide staying firm at #1 for the fifth consecutive week.

Alongside 2017 regulars — Adele, Moana, Trolls and Sing soundtracks — this week saw a larger-than-usual influx of debut entries. Metal lords, Mastodon, were the highest first week peak, landing at #3 with Emperor of Sand, while Jamiroquai's new LP, Automation, came in at #7. Further back, reunited Ice-T-led heavy metal project, Body Count, debuted at #12 with Bloodlust, with Jon Stevens' tenth studio album, Starlight, at #16 and Sydney indie-rockers Polish Clubs' debut LP Alright Already debuting at #19, one spot ahead of Goldfrapp's Silver Eye.

Bucking the recent trend of big first weeks followed by a slow receding down the chart, Rag'N'Bone Man's Human climbed up from #18 to #11 this week off the back of news that the UK singer would be performing at Splendour In The Grass in July, alongside Sydney and Melbourne headline shows.
