On Saturday, February 18th, as part of their reunion run of dates and the 2017 Melbourne Zoo Twilights Series, Brisbane's George headlined a night of Australian music with a nostalgic trip through their back catalogue.
Opener Felix Riebl seemed just as at home behind his keyboard as he does in his more familiar role — swinging from the rafters as frontman for The Cat Empire. Clearly thankful for a dry night after what sounded like a drenched evening at Twilight at Taronga on Friday, Riebl, together with his backing band, opened proceedings with songs from his 2016 solo album Paper Doors, including the latest single "Wasting Time".
With all original members in tow — siblings Katie and Tyrone Noonan, Geoff Green, Paulie Bromley and Nick Stewart — George powered through a set which included songs from Polyserena and 2004 follow-up Unity, with an encore featuring "Homebrew" from their 1998 self-titled debut EP.
