The Byron Bay festival — which sold out in less than an hour when tickets went on sale on Thursday — will be sharing the iconic U.S. rockers, with details of their own headline sideshows revealed this morning.
The band will play Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne at dates leading up to the festival, as well as playing their first ever show in Darwin. Despite there being several gaps in the itinerary, organisers have stressed that no further shows will be added for the tour. Tickets for all shows will go on sale Wednesday, April 12th, with Frontier Touring members getting access to a presale from Monday, April 10th. All dates and venue details below.
Queens of the Stone Age are expected to preview new material on the tour, having spent the past 18 months in the studio working on the follow-up to 2013's ...Like Clockwork. Earlier today, alongside the tour announcement, the band posted an image on Twitter with the words "COMING TWENTYFIVE".
The band have remained busy in the years since ...Like Clockwork, with frontman Josh Homme collaborating with Iggy Pop on 2016's Post Pop Depression, while guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen joined Gone Is Gone, who released their debut LP, Echolocation, in January.
Those that missed out on Splendour in the Grass tickets will have a second chance with the festival's official 'resale' facility starting at 9am (AEST) on Monday, May 8th. Details here.
