Byron Bay-based festival Splendour In The Grass this morning revealed the 2017 line-up.
Rockers Queens of the Stone Age head up the eclectic list, returning to Australia for the first time since their 2014 co-headline tour with Nine Inch Nails. They share the headline honours with the recently-reunited LCD Soundsystem, who revealed in November they'd previously aborted plans to return to Australia, instead focusing on new recorded material.
The line-up also features the xx, touring off the back of their chart-topping 2016 LP, I See You, as well as Royal Blood, Haim, Sigur Ros, Father John Misty and Two Door Cinema Club. Organisers have also locked in a pair of exclusive festival appearances — rapper Schoolboy Q and Future Islands, the latter set to release their new LP, The Far Field, on April 7th. The list also has a heavy a Australian artist presence, with scheduled appearances from Vance Joy, Tash Sultana, Cut Copy, Middle Kids, Dune Rats, Bad//Dreems, Julia Jacklin, Paul Kelly and recent Australian Music Prize winners, A.B. Original. View the complete line-up below.
This will be the first time Splendour In The Grass has been held since the announcement in December that U.S. event giants, Live Nation, bought a controlling stake in Secret Sounds, the group that operates the festival.
Splendour In The Grass 2017 is set to run from Friday, July 21st to Sunday, July 23rd, at the North Byron Parklands, with tickets — available as both 3-day and single day tickets — going on sale from 9am on Thursday, April 6th. More details available via the festival website.
