Early last month, Melbourne R&B troupe The Do Yo Thangs revealed their latest track, the funky, minimalistic "Those Days". Today, that memory lane trip gets partnered with an equally nostalgic clip, exclusively premiering via Rolling Stone Australia.
Stock footage of wide-eyed yesteryear kiddies blurs and glitches in time with the track's 8-bit Marimba, with the barely-there, Garageband-sourced percussion giving ample space for Audrey Powne's powerful croons to playfully lead us deep into the positively-skewed recalls of better, or at least simpler, times of "no responsibility." As faster, skittish synths are introduced the video spins further from this optimistic innocence, the possessed young ones' drone-like activities set to a far more frantic, looped pace, akin to the manic, modern lifestyle the song is rallying against temporarily suppressing.
On the back of the new single, the Do Yo Thangs will headline a hometown Wednesday night residency at the Evelyn Hotel throughout November; details here.
