"Further away than you've ever been" from New York or Sydney or wherever. Maybe just an attempt to dislodge ourselves from the pains of the big smoke and all the suffocating nicotine or those new anti-smoking-near-food laws, whichever side of that fence you reside. Or in a whole other plain altogether. On the open plains, forest ways and beyond the fences, so to speak. Maybe somewhere here, somewhere near Macquarie Lighthouse — a fittingly historical/timeless setting if we're stretching for reference. Regardless, the music itself takes us well beyond, off to a sun-soaked sanctuary where this seventies sickly pop sweetness belongs, a lush landscape that's only momentarily disrupted by celebratory flares and unwelcome flashes of glass-covered cityscapes.
With more nostalgic escapism than what is usually allowed, "Close My Eyes" serves as the impressive lead single for I Know Leopard's new EP Another Life, due out September 11. The band will be on the road throughout August and September in support of Gang of Youths, dates here.
