Watch Ben Wright-Smith's Emotive Live Take of 'Hellion Heeled'

More

Recent Future Is Now feature artist, Ben Wright Smith, recently swung by the Rolling Stone office to perform his track "Hellion Heeled".

The original version of the song — featured on Wright Smith's debut The Great Divorce — is a far more frantic display, propelled by a punchy rhythmic panic. Here, however, the Melbourne singer-songwriter — with just a little back-up vocal and keyboard assistance — replaces that euphoric brightness with more movement of his own vocals, which restlessly oscillate between passionate command and whimpering retreat, making for a wonderful reinvention of the catchy track.

Wright Smith has been announced as the main support for Pete Murray's upcoming national tour, playing some 32 shows around Australia from July through to September; details here
