Watch Birdz and Nooky Trade Verses on Energetic 'Questions' Live Take

More

Northern Territory rapper Birdz stopped by the Rolling Stone Australia office on Monday for a performance of "Questions", a track lifted from his debut LP Train Of Thought — which we exclusively premiered the same day. The album is officially out today via Bad Apples.

Starting with nostalgic recalls of "running from the pigs", Birdz quickly zooms in to the central thematic focus of systemic racism in his "triple K" hometown ("chasing black kids like they're betting on the races, contesting what my race is"). The rapper's lead in to the smoother, sing-a-long hook is chased by the sharp contrast of a guest verse from labelmate Nooky, who shifts from double-speed spits to trigger finger threats, highlighting a more passionate side of the same subject matter.

Birdz is set to launch Train Of Thought on Friday, September 22nd at Rolling Stone's Live Lodge 2017; details and tickets here.
