Last week, only a few days ahead of the release of their debut album, When The Storms Would Come, Holy Holy stopped by our Sydney office to perform one of the record's standout tracks, "Sentimental and Monday". The duo's sweeping, wide-plain sound remaining almost entirely undiluted by the stripped-back setting, with the song's passionate delivery amply stepping up to fill the voided space.
As vocalist Tim Carroll explained in their recent track by track breakdown of the album "the song's about leaving things behind", an emotive empowerment derived from the fairly rudimentary story of his girlfriend leaving her home in Sweden. Read the band's full breakdown of the album — as well as listen to a full stream of the record — here.
