Despite having a recording studio at the back of his Sydney home, Josh Pyke says he found it hard to listen to music as much as he'd liked to before he got his Sonos system.
"It's changed the way I listen to music," says Pyke. "Now I can be out the back, streaming music from my record player or Apple Music, and I can switch it through to the kitchen and keep listening while I cook dinner for the family." Pyke has an interesting configuration in his home. He has PLAY:3s in his kitchen and dining areas, and a PLAY:5 in his studio with a CONNECT hooked up to his turntable to blast some obscure old school vinyl he's collected over the years (like his rare Nirvana "Come As You Are" 12").
As part of our Creator Series, in partnership with Sonos, Josh Pyke has shared with some of his favourite songs to play around the home, including a few selections that don't go down particularly well with the rest of the household. Stream the complete mix below Pyke's own explanations of his playlist picks.

Sufjan Stevens "Death with Dignity"
"This album is my favourite of Sufjans', maybe my favourite album ever. It's a real listening album and I love lying on the couch and really absorbing the lyrics."
Animal Collective "My Girls"
"The whole album is amazing, but this song in particular makes me think of missing home, and therefore home. I first heard it on tour in the UK, and so I feel a yearning for home when I hear it."
The Tallest Man on Earth "Sagres"
"Kinda different from the first totally acoustic stuff he did, but again, a real listening song, good for sitting and absorbing."
The Beatles "In My Life"
"We play this song a lot around the house. My kids know all the words now, and it always reminds me of home."
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead "Worlds Apart"
"This is my cooking music, we have separate speakers around the house and no-one else likes Trail of Dead in my family, but if i'm cooking I crank it in the kitchen."
Beastie Boys "Intergalactic"
"My oldest son is in love with this song. He does a pretty good robot dance actually. It's funny that music I loved as a teenager has a new context in our home now."
The Chemical Brothers "The Salmon Dance"
"Both my kids are obsessed with this song. Music in our home is a shared experience, we don't really differentiate adult music and kids music."
Kurt Vile "Pretty Pimpin'"
"Another artist the rest of my household doesn't dig on that much, so I listen to this in the privacy my studio where I have another Sonos speaker set up."
Talking Heads "Psycho Killer"
"This is a big family sing along song for us, pretty funny hearing 2 and 5 year olds singing this song."
Tame Impala "Solitude is Bliss"
"This song just reminds me of home. It's a go too song for me, and it has connotations of being at home at various points in my life."
